What kind of competition is this?

This is a one-of-a-kind competition created by RCF Tacoma where we bring aspects of the Weightlifting, Powerlifting, and CrossFit world together, bringing you an exciting and fair way to find out who the strongest is in the gym regardless of gender, size, or age!

Group of people watching a fitness or workout class in a gym or training facility. A man in a red cap is crouching on a wooden box, speaking into a microphone. Others are sitting or standing around, some using their phones, with a blackboard menu and fitness equipment in the background.

How it works

In each match, competitors will be randomly paired and challenged with a lift drawn out of the hopper. The stakes are high as athletes won’t know what lift they will perform until the start of the round. Athletes will have 3 minutes to find their 1RM for the selected lift. Winners advance to the winners’ bracket, while those who fall short get a second chance in the losers’ bracket. This double elimination format ensures that every athlete will compete at least three times.

Step one:

All athletes will weigh-in the morning of the competition. This will be used to give an appropriate handicap based on age, weight, and gender. To achieve this, we will use the Wilks calculator.

step two:

Competitors will be matched against each other. They will then step into the ring to await what lift has been selected from the hopper.
